We are a long established modern legal business. Our clients want peace of mind, reduction of risks and solutions to their problems from high quality lawyers and support staff. The legal environment is rapidly changing and we have adapted to provide excellent value service to our business, family and individual clients. We have made substantial investments in the firm to bring in city level expertise, to develop the imaginative use of ICT and a good working environment, and build a strong Commercial Team to work alongside our Private Client Team. We offer a cost effective alternative to larger city firms.
The complexity of the world requires increasing levels of specialisation. At Raworths we concentrate on specific core areas of work and operate through two profession teams; a Commercial Team catering for businesses and commercial activities, and a Private Client Team working for families and individuals. We have a range of lawyers and paralegal staff, several of whom have joined us from large city firms.
Although we are one of the largest firms of solicitors in Yorkshire, outside Leeds, we are still of a size that allows good internal communication and mutual support, to produce good co-operative team working across different disciplines.
Our Commercial Team comprises the Corporate/Commercial, Commercial Property , Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Employment Units.
Our Private Client Team comprises the Residential Property, Probate, Wills and Trusts Unit and our Family Law Unit.
We have a spread of professional staff in all our Units so that we can deal with work at the appropriate level, and provide support and cover in the event of absence.
We are specialists in Mediation work. In addition to using this to help resolve disputes for our clients we have two of the most experienced mediators in the North of England dealing respectively with Civil/commercial and Family Mediation.
We have long established contacts in city, town and country all over the UK
We were early adopters of quality standards in the legal profession. We are accredited as Investors in People and to the Law Society’s Lexcel practice management standards (we were only the 45th out of 8000 then solicitors' practices to do this). We believe that regular assessment and re-accreditation by outsiders is a vital, if at the time inconvenient, discipline to ensure good practice. By doing this we can provide you with the best value service.
We understand that you want to deal with competent professional experts who are also pleasant to deal with. We have a friendly and co-operative culture where the client is at the heart of all we do. We attract high quality people with good interpersonal skills by encouraging a sensible work/life balance and having a reputation of being ‘a good place to work’. We like to think we are ‘nice people to deal with’ and client feedback appears to confirm this.
Due to physical constraints we cannot provide easy access for wheelchair users to our main office at Eton House However by prior arrangement we can provide level wheelchair access to a meeting room in our annex across the road in Clarendon House, or we can visit you at home or elsewhere.
We are based in Yorkshire, in one of the most attractive areas of the UK. Harrogate is the gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and ‘Herriot Country’, and we are in the ‘Golden Triangle’ on the edge of the commercial and financial powerhouses of Leeds and West Yorkshire, and close to the city of York. It is one of the wealthiest areas of the country outside the South East of England.
Harrogate originally developed as a world famous spa town and Edwin Raworth founded this firm in 1886, at the height of the Victorian boom. Eton House, our head office, was built during this period. Harrogate has a well deserved reputation as an elegant town, with its exceptional shopping centre and the surrounding 200 acre grassed area of the Stray. It is also famous for its floral displays, and regularly wins the Britain in Bloom competition. Despite its genteel reputation, the Harrogate District has a thriving commercial and business community and is an increasingly popular location for high tech and knowledge based businesses. Harrogate and the countryside around it are much sought after locations for homes for those in business in Leeds and West Yorkshire.
We are about 10 minutes from the main North/South artery of the A1(M). We have direct rail links with Leeds and York, both of which are about two hours from London by rail. We are also within 40 minutes of Leeds/Bradford airport, which has a good range of connections throughout UK and Europe
