Raworths Literature and Lecture Series

We are again sponsoring the Raworths Literature and Lecture Series as part of the Harrogate International Festival 2013, and we are delighted to help bring a very impressive line-up of speakers and contributors to the festival.

Amongst other attractions, Michael Palin discusses his new novel; Deborah Moggach and others celebrate Jane Austen; there is an evening with Richard and Judy; The trade secrets of baking with The Fabulous Baker Brothers Tom and Henry Herbert; local award winning chef Stephanie Moon is in conversation with the Great British Bake off winner John Waite; there is a spotlight on women’s fiction; the Raworths Book Club explores ‘The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry’; Benjamin Britten’s music is discussed and performed.

Joanne Harris the author of ‘Chocolat’ discusses her third novel; scientist Simon Watt explains why we die; Stuart Maconie explores the soundtrack to British culture; The world of Great Gatsby and the crash of 2007 collide; three writers speak about the ‘most remarkable land on our planet’ – Antarctica ; Ann Widdecombe talks about her recent memoir and we hear about BBC war correspondent Jeremy Bowen’s amazing career and his recent book ‘Arab Uprisings’

This year The Raworths Literature and Lecture Series is centred on a single site at the St George Hotel, Harrogate from Thursday 11 July to Sunday 14 July.
