Law Firm Walkers Aim for 125 Target

A team from Raworths Solicitors is aiming to walk a total of over 125 miles as part of the Saint Michael’s Hospice Midnight Walk on Saturday 30th June. The firm is celebrating 125 years in Harrogate and has nominated Saint Michael’s as the firm’s charity for their anniversary year. Twenty four walkers from Raworths will be taking part in the event which is in its sixth year.

The firm which was started by Edwin Raworth in 1887 now employs 56 people and the senior partner, Christopher Butterworth is grandson of one of the original partners, Jabez Butterworth. Christopher Butterworth says, “We are delighted to support Saint Michael’s Hospice in their renowned Midnight Walk and it is a testament to the firm’s enthusiasm in supporting the charity that so many of our staff will be walking on the night. We hope to complete over 125 miles with the combined efforts of our team to celebrate our birthday!”

Tony Collins, Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s says, “We are delighted that Raworths has nominated us as their chosen charity, their support will help make a real difference to the lives of local people living with terminal illness and bereavement. Their commitment to Saint Michael’s is further strengthened through membership of our Business 500 Club and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the large Raworths team at the Midnight Walk”.

Raworths has a number of events planned to celebrate their 125th year which kicked off in February with a Best of Yorkshire Food event at Fodder and includes sponsorship of the Raworths Literature Series at the Harrogate International Festival in July.

The Midnight Walk has raised over £500,000 for Saint Michael’s Hospice and over 4,000 walkers have completed the 6.5 mile circuit since the event began in 2006.
