What do you like about your work?

It is always rewarding to see clients who you have dealt with for a number of years growing and succeeding. Being a part of that gives me plenty of satisfaction.

What advice would you give to your clients?

We are available to help you. With our experience in business, we can lend a guiding hand when you are unsure of what you need to do.

Have you had any unusual experiences in business?

At the Federation of Master Builders, I was due to attend a routine meeting in London when I had a call on the train down that as the most senior person available could I go to the Houses of Parliament to represent them? An urgent issue had arisen, as the Government had issued guidance about the taxation of landfill which had caused confusion- the proposal meant that the cost of dumping of skip waste could be substantially increased putting many ongoing building projects in jeopardy. The issue was resolved through dialogue but it had been a close call for many of our SME’s.

What interests do you have outside work?

Spending time with my family, with two boys under five years old keeping us very busy. When I do get chance, I enjoy playing lots of sport, including golf and tennis and five a side football every week in a competitive league. I am a very keen traveller, having visited lots of places around the world, New Zealand and South Africa being particular favourites.
