Individuals & Families

We understand how important your case is, our experienced teams are on hand to provide practical and effective legal advice. With one of the largest teams of lawyers in North Yorkshire we work for wealthy individuals and their families, trusts and family businesses - your needs are at the heart of what we do.

Property

Our Commercial, Residential and Agricultural Property teams have the expertise to help you deal with the opportunities and challenges of the freehold and leasehold real estate market. We have substantial depth of experience of the property world and its demands which gives us the crucial ability to help you achieve your aims.

Resolving Disputes

Disputes are an unavoidable fact of life, but when they happen it is essential to find a quick, effective and practical solution to the situation. Whether your issues are commercial or business related, family or personal, we have the depth of experience, imagination and expertise to help you solve your problems.

Making people redundant from your business is a difficult process and one which is fraught with legal problems. If you get the process wrong you could be faced with an unfair dismissal award of up to £83,682 (as of 6 April 2018) per person and potentially more for discrimination claims.  You will also face considerable legal costs, distraction from the important job of running your business and, probably most damagingly, adverse publicity.  Our aim is to ensure that you get the process right.

Our team of Harrogate based employment solicitors are experienced in firstly assessing whether an employment tribunal would accept that there were legitimate grounds for redundancy. We will then guide you through the process of consultation which needs to be followed in advance of making people redundant, or alternatively reorganising job roles or responsibilities.  Consultation with affected staff is the key and we can provide you with detailed guidance on how this should be done.  Many of our clients find our detailed and tailored crib sheets extremely helpful for use at consultation meetings.  We can also produce all necessary correspondence and documentation and undertake redundancy package calculations for you.  Getting the process right first time is crucially important and a worthwhile investment to avoid the penalties which an employment tribunal can impose.

Our solicitors also have experience of handling large-scale redundancy and reorganisation situations and can also carry out the appropriate collective consultation with staff on your behalf, if required. We can provide fixed fee packages tailored to your needs so that you have certainty and security.

Preparing in advance is essential in handling redundancy and reorganisation processes correctly. Talk to us about your plans at the earliest stage possible so that we can guide you through the process.

Our solicitors are Harrogate based but we act for clients in the wider region and also cater to some national clients. We are happy to travel where we are needed.
