Intellectual Property
Intellectual property is about the protection of designs, names and ideas belonging to your business.
It can take the form of the trading name of the business, which can be protected by registering that name as a trademark or registering it as an Internet domain name.
It can cover the copyright to any material published by the new business.
It can cover the design rights in design drawings of particular products or processes.
If a product or process is a new invention then it is possible that it can be patented.
All the above examples of intellectual property are capable of ownership and will be owned either by the individuals involved in the sole trading or partnership business or belong to the company in the case of a limited company provided that they have been properly registered and documented.
