What do you like and dislike most about your role?
Employment law covers a variety of issues from recruitment to termination and therefore every day is different.  However, employment law is an area of law that is most frequently altered and keeping up with what is happening can be a challenge.

What has been an interesting case you have dealt with?
It was a case in which I had to give evidence to deal with a specific allegation that arose during the proceedings.  I now know how difficult it is for clients to give evidence at employment tribunals.  This case also ended up at the Employment Appeal Tribunal in London which was interesting.

What advice do you find yourself giving most often to businesses?
I often advise clients on how to conduct a disciplinary investigation but no two disciplinary matters are the same.

Do you believe in mediation as a means to resolve workplace disputes?
Yes, especially where the parties need to continue working together.  It can achieve time and cost savings and it can provide remedies which cannot be achieved through litigation.

What interests do you have outside of work?
I enjoy travelling; whether it's in the UK or abroad.  I also like pilates and zumba.  I used to play netball in a law league but due to the competitive nature of its players, I used to get too many injuries!
