Raworths Transforms Offices Into Art Show in Aid of Charity

Raworths will transform its Harrogate headquarters into a captivating collection of art to showcase the work of two of the region’s leading artists and raise money for charity.

Long-established Raworths LLP will open its historic Eton House premises on Station Parade on Wednesday, September 7 to display the spell-binding work of internationally known Bingley artist Jane Fielder and up and coming young Bradford talent Amy Charlesworth.

The evening art event, being held in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research, will feature beautiful images of Harrogate as well as Yorkshire industrial drawings and unique flower, landscape, animal and life portraits.

The exhibition will utilise two floors across Raworths’ town centre premises and see 20 percent of all sales go directly to Yorkshire Cancer Research who help Yorkshire people beat cancer and fund more than 200 internationally-recognised cancer scientists and clinicians at hospitals and universities across the region.

Artist Jane Fielder, who last year was asked by famous English sculptor Anthony Gormley to stand on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of his imaginative 100-day portrait of Britain contemporary exhibition, said she was working on several images of Harrogate ahead of the exhibition next month.

“I set up at the top of the City Lofts building in Harrogate recently and was able to capture the vibrant town centre in water colour right across to the golf balls out at Menwith Hill in Nidderdale - it was a beautiful clear day,” she said.

“I’m hoping to paint some more quirky shots of Harrogate life and some Knaresborough drawings too.

“The paintings I did on the Trafalgar Square plinth last year were auctioned and raised over £600 for the Bradford Burns Unit so I’m really hoping some of my exclusive paintings for the Harrogate exhibition raise as much for Yorkshire Cancer Research.”

As well as featuring more than 30 pieces of unique and exclusive art, wines from around the world will be served and canapés will be provided by Harrogate catering company Bib & Tucker.

Jonathan Mortimer, partner and head of dispute resolution at Raworths LLP, said: “Wine and art seem to go so well together so combining the two with raising money for a local charity seemed an easy decision.

“The two artists we’re hosting are both extremely talented and I already own quite a few pieces of their work myself and I hope our visitors to the exhibition enjoy their work as much as I do.

“Any art left unsold after the exhibition will hang in our offices for a few weeks after the event and can be viewed by our clients or members of the public by appointment,” he added.

“I’m really looking forward to our offices been brightened up by such a stunning collection next month.”

In May, Raworths chose Yorkshire Cancer Research as its sole charity partner for the next 12 months and already the law firm has raised nearly £2,000 through fundraising activities for the regional cancer charity.

Tickets for the Wine Tasting and Art Show on Wednesday, September 7 cost £10. The event will run from 6pm until 8pm and a full descriptive list of works for sale will be given to all guests who attend.
