Employment Law Updates Prove Successful Formula

Raworths’ bi-annual employment law updates offered advice to nearly 80 local employers last week in a series of seminars which provided details on the latest legislative changes for 2011.

Richard Meyrick, Facilities Manager for Saflio Group has been attending Raworths employment seminars since they started seven years ago and said ‘Raworths Employment unit always give very informative seminars on employment changes which saves having to peruse copious amounts of government legislation.’

The seminars combine a comprehensive update and explanation of all the legislative changes due in April 2011 with practical guidance for employers on how to deal with the issues arising. The main topics were additional paternity leave, the abolition of the default retirement age and its effect on employers and their business planning, the proposed reforms to the Tribunal process, as well as the general changes and updates.   Phil Cunliffe, Group HR Manager of Adler and Allan attended for the first time, ‘I was impressed.  The seminar gave me information that was relevant to our business, the content, timing and delivery was just right.’

The seminars were led by Deborah Boylan, Head of the Employment Unit at Raworths. The Employment Unit deal with a wide range of employment matters including employment documentation, restructuring, dismissal and redundancy, tribunal work, TUPE issues, dispute resolution and general advice on strategy and HR planning. They are members of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA).

‘The success of these seminars is a testament to the depth of expertise we are able to offer to employers,’ says managing partner, Christopher Butterworth. The next round of seminars will take place in September 2011. If you would like more details about these, please contact deborah.boylan@raworths.co.uk
